What is the “Breaking Capacity” of the circuit breaker (CB)?
Breaking Capacity:
During fault condition, the
current passing through the CB is extremely high. CB must be capable to handle
such huge current (Breaking Capacity). Huge arc is produced within the CB,
which needs to be extinguished within a minimum time. To prevent damage to the CB, the Breaking
Capacity of the CB should be higher than the power generated during the fault.
